The former Manchester United player is of the opinion that a victory against the Aquile will not miraculously solve all of the Giallorossi's problems this season
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the Argentine pointed out that in the long run the clash against Edoardo Reja's men is just a game like any other, and is not a season-defining encounter.
"This [the Roman derby] is an important game, no doubt, but it is fair to say that we cannot save our season by just winning this game. We will give the maximum, but more challenges lie ahead after this obstacle.
"Third place? We will see at the end of the season. If we were not good enough, maybe someone else will take it."
Heinze also had a word on Daniele De Rossi who was reportedly left out of the team for the game against Atalanta, which the Giallorossi lost 4-1, for being late for a team meeting.
"If I have something to say to Daniele, I would rather do it in private. In any case there are rules which must be respected. Our coach has set a few rules and we are obligated to follow them. The players should behave like professionals on and off the pitch.
"Was his absence the decisive factor in the defeat against Atalanta? He is important to us, but we can not build alibis. Everyone is responsible for the loss.
"We lack a bit of conviction, but I think this is normal. We are a new, young team, and patience is required."
The Roman derby kicks off at 16.00CET on Sunday.
