Fabio Capello's No. 2 is now ready to part company with England and make the move to the Stadio Olimpico
The England assistant had been expected in the Eternal City this week but Sabatini revealed after the heart-breaking derby defeat to Lazio that Fabio Capello’s No. 2 will not arrive until after Sunday's match against Palermo.
Baldini's appointment has been the subject of much debate in light of his public falling-out with Roma icon Francesco Totti. However, Sabatini believes Baldini's belated arrival will galvanise the club after their derby woe.
"He will join us to carry on this story which today is painful but will soon change,” Sabatini told Roma Channel.
Sabatini went on to admit that he was still reeling after watching 10-man Roma suffer a 2-1 defeat at the hands of their bitter rivals, with Miroslav Klose netting an injury-time winner for Lazio.
However, the Roma chief was far from downhearted by the performance of Luis Enrique’s side, believing that they will learn from the loss and quickly get back to winning ways.
"It was a good game,” he said. “Especially in the first half, but sometimes also in the second with reduced numbers.
“These losses teach us a lot. Now we have games coming up and we need to get back on track."
