The holding midfielder has voiced his disappointment with the Giuseppe Meazza side's shock Serie A loss as he feels they were on the right path until Saturday's game

Inter midfielder Esteban Cambiasso has voiced his frustration with his side's 2-1 Serie A defeat in the away game against Catania on Saturday evening.

Cambiasso gifted Inter the lead after only six minutes of play, but the Sicilians fought back after the break and goals from Sergio Almiron and Francesco Lodi left the Giuseppe Meazza side empty-handed.

"None of us imagined we would begin the season like this and it's hard to analyse it - I'm sure it's a combination of factors," Cambiasso told Inter's official website.

"It's disappointing too because we had started to turn things around with the games against Bologna and CSKA Moscow but now this is a step backwards. We need to remain calm and deal with the situation.

"I usually see my own performances as secondary to the team's anyway, but this evening my performance is even less important considering the result."

As a result of the defeat, Claudio Ranieri's men have dropped to 17th spot in the table with four points from six encounters.
