Leonardo Was Right To Drop Maicon And Thiago Motta Against Parma – Inter's Marco Branca

Club official backs the coach’s decision to drop two of his star players in their league match last night

Inter coach Leonardo ultimately made the decision to omit defender Maicon and midfielder Thiago Motta from the squad for their trip to Parma on Saturday evening, according to director Marco Branca.

The duo did not travel with the squad for their away game in Serie A on Saturday night in spite of not suffering from injury or suspension problems.

Club director Branca confirmed that it was the coach who left them out and told Sky Sport Italia before the match: “Leaving out Motta and Maicon is simply a technical decision. Wesley Sneijder is in the squad and is on the bench again due to a technical decision.

“The coach has the right to make the decisions that he believes are right.”

Inter lost the game 2-0 and are now eights points behind leaders Milan in third place with just five more rounds of games left to be played in the championship this season.
