Chievo tactician Stefano Pioli called into question the manner in which Robinho seemingly put Milan ahead with the aid of an outstretched arm.As Chievo narrowly fell to defeat at the hands of Milan, Gialloblu coach Stefano Pioli bemoaned some poor refereeing but praised his side’s refusal to give in against the league leaders.
“We were punished by the referee today,” he declared to SkySport.
“Given the performance from my men I cannot take anything away from them in defeat.
“We battled hard against the best side in the league and unfortunately were punished by some inattention from the match official.
“Maybe the side was slightly foolish in not playing to the whistle but the handball [by Robinho] was there for all to see on their opening goal.
“Despite the result we mustn’t get downbeat as they performance leaves us with a lot of promise. Now we must look to bounce back and secure mathematical salvation as quickly as possible.”
