Roma captain Francesco Totti has expressed his utmost devotion to the Giallorossi colours after being presented with a special award by the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) for having committed his entire career to his hometown club.
“I want to thank the CONI for the accolade they have bestowed upon me,” the 33-year-old writes on his official website.
“I find their motivation for the award particularly meaningful: to have tied my entire career to the city of Rome.
“It is a sense of belonging that has characterized me over the years and one that gave me strength. All that I love the most in the world is here.”
Roma still hold faint hopes of winning the Serie A title, being two points adrift of leaders Inter heading into the last weekend of the season.
“I am focusing all my energy to prepare as best as I can for Sunday’s match against Chievo,” explains Totti.
“It will bring our season to an end and my only thought is to give my all for the shirt and for our fans.”
