Francesco Totti is shooting his way back to action gradually, hoping to make next Saturday's clash against Inter, according to Il Romanista.
Inflammation to his right knee has subsided, allowing him to increase the work load in training. Totti spent Friday performing ball work where he took part in shooting exercises. He also increased the pace when running around Trigoria under the supervision of personal trainer Vito Scala.
It's good news for Roma who hope to have him back for at least a slice of the Inter showdown. Voices around the capital suggested he would be back for the midweek round against Bologna, but that has now been ruled out.
Coach Claudio Ranieri confirmed the rate of progress.
"He is doing a different type of work and I hope he is back soon. Will he play against Bologna? No. He will be here at Trigoria," said the coach.
Totti has scored 21 goals in all competitions this season. Roma welcome Udinese at the Olimpico tonight.
