Real Madrid defender Raul Albiol is a doubt for Saturday's Primera Liga tie against Racing Santander after picking up a knock in Spain's 5-1 friendly victory over Austria.

Albiol was injured in the latter stages of the game at the Ernst Happel Stadion as he got his studs got in the turf and twisted his left knee. The national team physician says that they must be cautious with the injury even though Albiol himself feels okay, according to AS.

"Albiol has good feelings, but we must be cautious, because these injuries are tricky and can be serious. They will have to explore it more in Madrid and make a new assessment with maximum caution," said team doctor Oscar Celada.

The player is set to undergo further tests when he reports for duty with Madrid on Thursday but it is expected that he may sit out Saturday's game at the Bernabeu, with one eye on next weekend's visit to Camp Nou to take on Barcelona.
