Milan’s resurgence in recent weeks has been largely attributed to coach Leonardo’s new attacking formation, with the likes of Clarence Seedorf, Ronaldinho, Alexandre Pato and either Filippo Inzaghi or Marco Borriello all lining up in the starting XI.
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti says that the glue that holds it all together is Pato, who has agreed to a tactical change that he objected to last term.
“I had thought this [system] up last year,” ‘Carletto’ told Il Giornale.
“Then I decided to give up. And do you want to know why? Because Pato was against this experiment and thought that we would waste his talent by isolating him in that corner on the right flank.
“Leonardo did well to convince Pato and then find a solution that in fact magnifies the qualities of the lad.”
Ancelotti left the Rossoneri for Chelsea over the summer. His side are currently leading the way in the Premier League, five points clear of Arsenal and Manchester United.
