The Golden Boy of Italian football celebrated his 35th birthday today…Alessandro Del Piero is enjoying his special day with his club Juventus and its supporters, as he nears a return from the injury that has seen him play just 10 minutes of football all season.
Nevertheless, the focus is on ‘Pinturicchio’ himself today, and not his injury concerns, and the latest to hail the iconic captain is his team-mate Giorgio Chiellini.
“Today our captain Alessandro Del Piero has turned 35, and I would like to send my dearest wishes to him,” Chiellini was quoted as saying on the Juventus website, Juventus.it.
“He is an example for all of us, not only as a player, but also as a person.”
Chiellini then briefly went on to speak about the weekend’s 5-2 victory over Atalanta, and his focus for the next two weeks.
He added, “On Saturday against Atalanta, we managed to achieve a great result, which was very important before the international break.
“But now it’s back to focusing on the Azzurri, and our two friendly matches against Holland and Sweden.”
