The Nerazzurri thrashed Genoa 5-0 at the Luigi Ferraris stadium last night in the eighth matchday of Serie A.
Julio Cesar believes that this was an important win to prove that the Nerazzurri are still the best team in Italy and it will take a lot of hard work from the other teams to pry them away from the top place.
"It was a great win," declared the Brazilian player to Inter Channel. "We spoke about it in the dressing room: it was the perfect evening for all of us.
"I think that Inter sent out a strong message to the league. Genoa is a team who knows how to always put us in difficulty, but when I saw the goal scored by [Dejan] Stankovic, I understood that it was our evening."
Julio Cesar tried to cheer up the Rossoblu's goalkeeper Marco Amelia who made a huge mistake which paved the way for Dejan Stankovic's goal.
"It can happen, it happened even to me, but it's incredible how a player hits the ball so well in certain cases," he concluded.
Inter now have a four-point advantage over fellow title hopefuls Juventus who were held to a draw by Fiorentina yesterday, while Sampdoria play their game in hand against Lazio this afternoon.
