Christian Panucci’s return to Genoa is looking more likely than ever, after the player’s agent Oscar Damiani confirmed that not only had there been contact between the two parties, but that the defender has said he would welcome a transfer to the Rossoblu.

Panucci is currently a free agent, after his contract with Roma expired at the end of last month, and he has been heavily linked with a move back to his old club Genoa over the past few days.

"There has only been contact with the Rossoblu," Damiani, told pianetagenoa1893.net.

"We know that the Rossoblu club are interested in the player, but they have not begun any negotiations yet, there was only one contact.

“Parma and two foreign teams are also interested, but Genoa certainly would be a welcome move because he has always remained genoano.

“A return to the club that launched his career is satisfying, the only thing I can add is that we will know more next week.”

The 36-year-old Panucci first burst onto the Serie A scene with Genoa as a teenager in 1992-93, impressing so much that he earned an immediate move to Fabio Capello’s Milan.
