thumbnail Hello,

Nearing the season's end and with much on the line, Malaga and Osasuna failed to record wins, while Villarreal saw three points slip away in added time

Rayo Vallecano 0-1 Atletico Madrid
A lone goal from Radamel Falcao secured Atletico Madrid a 1-0 win at Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, giving Diego Simeone's men momentum ahead of Thursday's Europa League showdown with Valencia.

After a scoreless first half, Falcao managed to fire home an effort from outside the box into the bottom right corner in the 64th minute.

Rayo only managed to test Thibaut Courtois twice en route to their 16th loss of the season.

Atletico are in ninth place with 45 points, while Rayo are in 14th win 40. The visitors will travel to Sporting next week, while the capital club host Espanyol.
Malaga 1-1 Real Sociedad
With Valencia getting thrashed 4-0 by Espanyol, Malaga had a chance to jump into third place but could not defeat Real Sociedad, as a second-half goal by Xabi Prieto cancelled out an early strike from the hosts as the match ended 1-1.

Isco put his team ahead on 19 minutes with a delicate shot from outside the box, finding the bottom right corner.

Despite only having two shots on goal, Sociedad were efficient enough, as Prieto fired home from outside the area.

With the tie, Malaga are still in fourth but remain a point behind Los Che. Next week, they will travel to take on Osasuna. Sociedad, who are in 15th with 39 points, appear safe from relegation, holding an eight-point advantage on the sides in immediate danger. The visitors will host Villarreal next time out.
Villarreal 1-1 Racing Santander
After an emotional victory in midweek against Malaga, Villarreal looked to be headed to another three points on Sunday before Lautaro Acosta bagged an equaliser in the 94th minute as the Yellow Submarine were held 1-1 by Racing.

Hernan Perez put his side ahead just after the break, but Acosta's clinical late header off a cross from Jairo Samperio levelled the match.

Despite failing to earn all three points, Villarreal are now in 16th place and look like a good bet to remain in the top flight as they hold a five-point advantage over Zaragoza. Next week, they will travel to Real Sociedad.

Racing, dead last and looking set for relegation, host Athletic Bilbao.
Real Zaragoza 1-0 Granada
Real Zaragoza earned a crucial victory on Sunday over Granada, winning 1-0 as both sides continue to fight for their Primera Division lives.

Tomislav Dujmovic scored the match's only goal with a 20-yard strike six minutes in, finding the upper-right corner of the goal, bringing the club to within five points of Granada, who are the lowest-placed club in a safe position.

Zaragoza managed to frustrate the visitors time and again, not allowing a shot on goal in the win.

The hosts, who are now in 18th place with 31 points, travel to Mallorca next week, while Granada, one above with 36 points, host Getafe.
Real Betis 1-0 Osasuna
Osasuna failed to strengthen their place in the top-six spots of the standings on Sunday, falling 1-0 to Real Betis.

Entering the match, a victory would have seen the visitors go three clear of seventh place, but they could only place the ball on target once all game, as a goal in the 33rd minute by Ruben Castro was enough for Betis to earn the win and jump into 11th.

Betis are undefeated in their last six games and will travel to Valencia next week, while Osasuna host Malaga.
