Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho believes Cristiano Ronaldo will not be on top form for tonight's showdown with rivals city Atletico Madrid.

The former World Player of the Year has just come back from injury and the Portuguese trainer doesn't think the player has been given sufficient recovery time.

"After being without training for a while, it is normal that tomorrow, he is not in very good condition,'' he told Spanish publication Marca yesterday.

''
We are talking about a team that has had a week to prepare for this match and to look at Real Madrid who only had a few days.''

The news comes a few weeks after Mourinho launched a scathing attack on la Liga's fixture planners, whom he thinks are 'laughing' at his side. This was in response to Madrid having to play on Saturdays despite being involved midweek in the Champions League.

As derby fever takes over Madrid, the two-time Champions League winning coach said: "In derbies, there are no favourites, the classification of the teams is not important.

"The forces are unbalanced. We try to balance them with our quality,'' added the 'Special One.'

Real Madrid are looking to keep in touch with La Liga pacesetters Barcelona. They currently lag behind by five points.
