Sergio Ramos admits he wishes Lionel Messi was absent from the upcoming Barcelona - Real Madrid encounter.
The match will see the Spanish international and his colleagues attempt to shackle the Argentine phenomenon, but the full-back admits if he had the opportunity to remove one player from the opposition line-up, it would be Messi.
He told a press conference today: “Barcelona are a team full of good players, such as Andres Iniesta and Xavi, but if I could remove anyone, it would Lionel Messi.
“The match at the Camp Nou will be very difficult. Both teams arrive here in great form and mood, and although this match seems like just three points, it is a very special match and I think this year will win.”
A Zlatan Ibrahimovic goal settled the corresponding fixture last season, but Ramos feels that this new-look team, with Jose Mourinho at the helm, are capable of more.
He added: “This is a different team, with new players, capable of great goals and above all we can strike a blow on the league table.”
