Chilean would liked to have seen Barca cope without Messi for two months...

Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini was full of praise for talismanic forward Cristiano Ronaldo after he bagged a hat-trick in a stunning display against Mallorca at tehe ONO Stadi.

Pellegrini also asked how would title rivals Barcelona have coped without the presence of Lionel Messi for two months, as Madrid did without Ronaldo earlier this season.

Ronaldo equalised in the first half after Aritz Aduriz had given the Barralets the lead and added two more after the break before gonzalo Higuain rounded off prcoeedings with a delightful lob.

The 4-1 victory puts los Merengues back within one point of leaders Barcelona with just two games remaining and Pellegrini praised the ability of his side to win games without the Portuguese star.

"Cristiano is a major figure in this Real Madrid side and we spent two months without him. Nevertheless, we made a team and without him the other players still won games. I would have liked to have seen Barcelona go two months without [Lionel] Messi," he said, as quoted by AS.
