Real Madrid Striker Karim Benzema Continues To Miss Training As Internationals Return
Benzema will miss Real Madrid's match against Sevilla and is doubtful for next week's clash against Lyon...
By Cyrus C. Malek
A plethora of Real Madrid players returned to training today after fulfilling their international obligations with their respective national teams. However, Karim Benzema, who was not called up to the French national team because of injury, continued to miss training today.
The French striker was once again relegated to the team's indoor facilities as he attempts to recover from his sports hernia and will miss Real Madrid's next Liga fixture against Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.
Benzema will be doubtful for next week's return leg Champions League fixture against his old team, Olympique de Lyon, also at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Xabi Alonso, and Royston Drenthe also trained indoors today after listening to coach Manuel Pellegrini's talk to open the session.
Iker Casillas, Raul Albiol, Alvaro Arbeloa, Sergio Ramos, and Lassana Diarra were all present, although they trained at a lighter pace than the rest of the team as they recuperate from the strains of international football.
