Villarreal Veteran Robert Pires: We Must Improve Our Away Form
Yellow Submarine need to pick up points away from El Madrigal…
By Rupert Fryer
“We have no time to mope because we have another game [against Deportivo on Sunday],” he told villarrealcf.es. “It's a vital game for us and we know that there are many things we have to improve, especially when we play away."
Villarreal have lost 8 of their 11 away games in the league this season and currently sit in 10th place in La Liga, a full eight point s behind Mallorca and a Europa League berth, going into Sunday’s match at El Madrigal against Depor.
“It is a very important game for us,” Pires continued. “We've got 15 games remaining and we have to make the most of them. We can’t drop any more points at El Madrigal because we are eight points behind Mallorca, which is in UEFA and for me that's not far away.”
Finally, the 36-year-old former World Cup winner stressed the importance of his side finding the consistency required to drag themselves back up the table.
“If we can have a good run then we'll be up there in the table and for that we must win on Sunday,” he concluded.
