Barcelona Defender Gerard Pique Predicts Victory Against Real Madrid
The stopper is in confident of an El Clasico triumph, despite the slip up at San Mames...
The Primera Division champions stumbled to a 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday evening, a result that allowed Los Blancos to overtake them at the summit and hold the edge prior to the powder-keg clash.
However the former Manchester United stopper confidently predicted that Barcelona would come out on top – and even attempted to predict the scoreline.
Speaking in an interview with Marca, the 22-year old commented, “I am hopeful that we will not concede any goals and win either 2-0 or 3-0. A Barcelona–Real Madrid match is different.
“You have a special motivation, more adrenaline, and more intensity.”
Pique also had words of praise for his coach, Pep Guardiola, who brought the player from Old Trafford last summer for a fee of £7 million.
He added, “Pep [Guardiola] teaches me to understand football and see the game differently. It makes you understand why you do things.”
The Clasico encounter takes place at 19:00 CET Sunday, November 29 at the Camp Nou.
