Guti's future at Real Madrid was thrown even further into doubt after he was left out of the squad for the derby encounter with Atletico de Madrid this weekend.
The veteran midfielder has not played since a reported bust-up with coach Manuel Pellegrini during the Alcorcon cup encounter.
While both Guti and Pellegrini both stated publicly that the disagreement had been put behind them, the coach has not forgotten it and the Spanish media believe that the player's continued omission is a message.
Christoph Metzelder may see his desire to experience a Madrid derby first-hand as he has been named in the squad on the week when he celebrated his 29th birthday.
The German international will be rivalled for a place in the centre of defence by Ezequiel Garay as he too is on Pellegrini's list.
Royston Drenthe, Mahamadou Diarra and Antonio Adan have all been rested.

Goalkeepers: Casillas, Dudek.
Defenders: Arbeloa, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Garay, Metzelder, Marcelo, Albiol.
