'CR9' is in a much better physical condition, and could take part in the derby against los Colchoneros on Saturday night...

Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid (Peace Cup)
Real Madrid have received a major boost with the news that Cristiano Ronaldo's spell on the sidelines could be drawing to an end.

Ronaldo was at the Sanitas La Moreja clinic today to have an MRI scan on his injured ankle, and Marca report that the initial prognosis is positive. In addition, he stated that, "there's no pain".

It has also been revealed that the Portuguese ace has been working in the gym and the swimming pool at Real Madrid's training base at Valdebebas for seven and a half hours a day in an effort to recover his fitness as soon as possible.

The injury was picked up during Madrid's Champions League match against Olympique Marseille at the end of September, and then aggravated while he was on international duty with Portugal.

Over the course of the next few days, Manuel Pellegrini will continue to monitor Ronaldo's progress closely but he will not risk him on Saturday evening against Atletico Madrid unless he is 100 per cent fit.
