Jose Antonio Reyes: Atletico Madrid Approach Rivals Real Madrid With Confidence
The self-belief of both Reyes and his side appears to be burgeoning after a fine Champions League draw in midweek. Los Colchoneros tackle their neighbours at the weekend and are looking forward to the fixture...
Jose Antonio Reyes believes that Atletico de Madrid are looking ahead to the derby against Real Madrid with confidence after an inspiring display against Chelsea on Tuesday evening.
Los Colchoneros raised their game against the Blues and the former Arsenal star is relishing the prospect of taking on Los Merengues at the weekend with their new-found belief.
Despite being unable to clinch all three points against Chelsea, the fact that they matched the Premier League leaders was cause for optimism at the Vicente Calderon.
“We had everything in hand, but we were unable to achieve the most important thing, which was to win," Reyes was quoted as saying by the club's official website.
"Now we’re really looking forward to the derby and we believe in our play.
"Furthermore, these matches carry great incentives. It’s one of the best games of the season.”
Reyes has had his critics at Atletico, particularly from the club's own fans, due to having played for Real Madrid, but on Tuesday he was given an ovation.
"It was a good result and I’m happy about the applause that the supporters gave me. I feel more and more comfortable," he added.
