Real Madrid Midfielder Lassana Diarra To Miss Sporting Gijon Visit

One player has left the country, while two more have returned to training...

Lass Diarra, Real Madrid (Peace Cup 2009)
Lassana Diarra will miss Real Madrid's encounter with Sporting Gijon at the weekend after being allowed to return to France.

The former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder was not present at training for Los Merengues on Thursday after he was given permission to go home due to a family matter.

While Madrid did not specify why Diarra had travelled to France they did confirm that he would not be returning in time to play in the club's next league outing.

On a positive note Fernando Gago and Christoph Metzelder were back in training as they both continue to recover from knocks that saw them the Milan encounter.

Guti is still working but has yet to convince the club medics or coach Manuel Pellegrini that he can be risked after suffering a muscle injury.

Ruud van Nistelrooy is closing in on a return after scoring almost a month ago against Xerez following a long lay-off prior to that.
