Cristiano Ronaldo's Absence Is No Excuse - Real Madrid Defender Raul Albiol
Albiol says the defeat against Sevilla has been 'dramatised'....
Real Madrid centre-back Raul Albiol says that the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo cannot be used as an excuse for the weekend defeat to Sevilla.
The 2-1 loss at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium was Madrid's first defeat of the season and Albiol believes the reaction has been over the top, and says the defeat to Sevilla has been "dramatised". He insists that it's time to analyse the game, take the positives and move on.
"The absence of one player should not be an excuse. He [Ronaldo] is the best in the world and can decide a game at any moment but we have very good players who can replace him," Albiol told Marca.
"You have to forget everything and focus on work and new ideas, look at the whole league and not act like we have seen ghosts. We must be calm. After the international break we must have the batteries recharged."
The 24-year-old defender also said that Spain must be patient in their attempts to capture the World Cup in South Africa next summer.
"We must keep our feet on the ground, be prepared and have patience," Albiol added.
