After another sterling performance for Barcelona at the weekend, Lionel Messi has convinced Blaugrana president Joan Laporta that there is no one better for Pep Guardiola to have at his disposal.
"Messi is the best in the world, committed to the club," Laporta enthused to AS.
"He is a great player and has really emerged as a leader. He is scoring goals and is happy. As Pep has said many times, if I see a happy 'Leo' then it shows that things are going well."
Messi scored twice for the champions in their 5-2 rout of Atletico Madrid on Saturday, but Guardiola was not entirely happy with his side's performance.
The ongoing search for perfection, Laporta believes, is the foundation on which their success is built.
"I think this is the key to success. At no point can we relax or allow ourselves to be taken by the general atmosphere, because we are experiencing one of the best moments in Barcelona's history."
