Chelsea Vs Man United Fanview: " Going to be United all the way" & "Watch out for Torres"
Goal.com goes out to talk to fans who are eagerly awaiting the clash between the Andre Villas-Boas's side and the Red Devils.....
By Karan Bhansali
We are going to experience a thrilling match this coming Sunday, when Chelsea take on the Red Devils at their own fortress. Ahead of this match, which might change the course of the title race, we ask a few fans on what they think the outcome of this match will be and who will be the shining star in this game.
Vineet Gupta
“Although the side is nursing several injuries like Nemanja Vidic, Phil Jones and Tom Cleverley, the bench has proved that they really have it in them to be the Champions of England for the 20th time. With as many as 9 first team players out for the previous match against Stoke City, United were victorious controlling virtually every part of the game, showing their true class. Antonio Valencia, I think, will be the player of the match. We have a completely rejuvenated player in him, as seen in the last two months. His dribbling, crossing and pace makes him an asset to United and his recent goal against Arsenal has also done a lot of good to his confidence. I think United will win.”
Aalap Ashtamkar
“Traditionally, Chelsea has always managed to play well against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge but with all the injuries this time around for both teams, it will be a tense affair. With Ramires out of the game and Terry and Lampard doubtful, we might see the long awaited debut of Gary Cahill and also a Meireles, Essien and Malouda partnership in the centre, which may seem unconventional but might work. Torres will spearhead the attack and look to score. Also with Manchester United's troubles in-between the sticks, Chelsea will look to capitalise on that. Still I see only a draw at 1-1. Chelsea might generate an upset like the one against Man City but they start the match as underdogs.”
Devansh Sheth
“It’s going to be United all the way. With the return of Paul Scholes to the United midfield, there has been a sudden transformation to the way they have played in the recent few games. The game against Liverpool in the F.A. Cup, where United saw a lot of the ball, and also against Stoke City, where United had a possession stat of like 74%-26%, is just an example of this fact. He brings years of experience to the side. Plus with rumours of Rooney, Nani and Giggs being available for the Sunday game, makes the result sway even more in United’s favour.
Glory Glory Man United.”
Saagar Shah
“Well so it’s Chelsea Vs Manchester United on Sunday. I support Chelsea and will be over the moon if they win, the big one, but I just don’t see it happening. With Wayne Rooney, Nani and Phil Jones all looking fit to play the game, it’s going to be a tough one for Andre Villas-Boas.With Ramires injured and Ashley Cole facing suspension, after picking up a red card in the game against Swansea, the squad just looks weak. Gary Cahill may debut but I really doubt that will change the result. So with great sorrow, I’m going to say Manchester United are going to win this Sunday at Stamford Bridge by about 3 goals to 1.”
Manisha Aiyar
“Chelsea – Manchester United matches have always been nerve-wrecking and this Sunday’s match is going to be no different. It’ll be a crucial victory if any of the two teams do emerge victorious. After their 3-1 defeat to United in September, Chelsea will surely be looking for revenge. It’ll be an uphill task for United to win at Stamford Bridge. They have done it before though.
With Phil Jones, Nani and Rooney expected to be fit for the match, United should have no trouble in putting up a strong team. Valencia will be the man to watch out for since he’s having the form of his life! Especially after United’s defeat to Liverpool, the fans will be expecting nothing less than a win.
United are the favourites to win this game.”Chaitanya Sampat
“Chelsea can boast their home form against United, unbeaten in league since 2002. But apart from this, they have nothing to talk about. United have many of their players coming back, and therefore look like the more likely to win. But I think the result will be a draw, a scored draw, unless Chelsea defend well and catch United on the break. Juan Mata is in great form for Chelsea this season and I think it will continue throughout this season, so he is my pick for Man of the Match.”
Yash Jhaveri
“I think it’s going to be a close game and both teams will score, but the result will be a draw. Both the clubs are missing key players, United missing the likes of Vidic, Cleverley and Anders Lindegaard. With them out, United will be forced to play with De Gea in goal. Chelsea missing Ashley Cole through suspension and Ramires through injury, therefore the wingers will exploit that end of the pitch to get crosses flying into the box. Man Of The Match will be Antonio Valencia, due to his recent form, that has made him the most dangerous winger in the Premier League.”
Apurv Modak
“I think Chelsea hold the upper hand in this game because of their brilliant home form against Man Utd. They haven’t lost a game to United since 2002. Chelsea might be without a few key players like Ramires and Ashley Cole, but they will definitely come out of the dark and strike United when they least expect in the match. I think this is a game Fernando Torres has played very well over the years. Everybody knows how he has haunted the United back four and so I think he will be the player to watch out for.”
Shravan Manghani @Mangha7
“With United level on points with league leaders Man City this week, they could well find themselves in arrears once again come Sunday.
With Ashley Cole suspended, I expect an in form Antonio Valencia to thrive against his replacement at left back hence providing at least one assist if not more. Reports suggest Rooney & Nani will return to the United side on Sunday, and I expect them to be heavily involved if they make it.
A hard fought victory 0-2 or 1-2 victory for the Red Devils.”
Aaresh Bachana
“Chelsea versus Man United has become of the fiercest encounters in the Premier League, simply because in the last few seasons it has only been these clubs that have taken the Premier League home. Chelsea have a slight edge in the fact that United don’t really do well at Stamford Bridge having now won a game there since 2002. I think it will be a close game, but Chelsea will take it in the dying minutes. I expect Mata to be the standout player, as he has proven himself to be, throughout this season for Chelsea.”
