Chelsea Confirm John Terry Will Be Fit To Face Tottenham Despite Limping Out Of Training

The Blues captain hobbled out of a session after picking up an injury against Wigan on Saturday, but the club insist he will be ready for Thursday’s clash at White Hart Lane
Chelsea have moved quickly to allay fears over the fitness of John Terry ahead of Thursday’s Premier League clash with Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

The Blues captain initially appeared to pick up a knock after an aerial challenge with Franco Di Santo in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Wigan at the DW Stadium, although he returned to the field and completed the match after briefly receiving treatment on the touchline.

Such concerns appeared to be justified when Terry was then seen hobbling out of a training session at Chelsea’s Cobham base on Monday morning, but the club insist the injury is not as bad as it initially appeared, and that the centre-back will be ready to face Spurs.

A statement on the club's official website said: "John Terry will be fit to face Tottenham on Thursday despite limping out of Monday's open training session at Stamford Bridge.

"The defender pinched his Achilles while blocking a shot on the pitch towards the end of the session, and departed for treatment as a precaution, but is expected to lead the side out as normal at White Hart Lane on Thursday night."
