Ahead of his side's trip to Camp Nou, the 28-year-old argues that the reigning Spanish and European champions have fallen behind their great rivals
The Blancos have won their last 13 games in all competitions and currently lead La Liga by six points from their Catalan rivals.
And while Barca are the reigning Spanish and European champions, Kone feels that Pep Guardiola’s side are no longer the best on the planet.
"At the moment, I feel Real Madrid are better than Barcelona,” he told AS.
“Madrid are scoring almost four goals per game, their forwards are very good and are now the most dangerous in the league.”
But Kone, speaking ahead of his side’s visit to Camp Nou on Saturday, freely admits that Barca talisman Lionel Messi remains unplayable when he is on his game.
"There is no tactic for stopping Messi,” the Ivorian conceded. “You just have to play as well as you can and hope that Messi is not good [on the night].
"It will be fatal for us if in our heads we think that we will lose,” he warned. "You have to go with confidence and with the intention of getting something positive."
Kone is brimming with the belief at the moment after netting two goals against Sporting Gijon at the weekend to take his tally to five for the season.
“[It was] my best game in Spain [so far],” the on-loan Sevilla forward said. “Two goals is always very significant for a striker."
Kone joined Sevilla from PSV in 2007 but struggled to make an impact at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and was first loaned to Hanover last year before being farmed out to Levante this season.
