The Spurs defender has made just five appearances this season but has been chosen to partner Younes Kaboul in the heart of defence at the expense of Sebastian Bassong.

In midfield Aaron Lennon continues on the Spurs right wing making his second successive start for the first time since the opening games of the season.

William Gallas has proved fit enough to earn a place on the bench after recovering from a calf strain.

QPR make one change from their memorable win over Chelsea as Armand Traore returns at left back in place of Clint Hill.

Centre back Anton Ferdinand, currently at the centre of racism controversy, maintains his place in the side.
