Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes is set to stand firm on his refusal to play for the England team despite Fabio Capello's hope that he might change his mind, according to a report from The Sun.
The midfielder had expressed a certain amount of regret that he did not decide to answer Capello's call to play for the Three Lions at the World Cup, but it seems that that was due to the pull of the world's showpiece tournament.
The report claims that Scholes has no intention of playing for England in their qualifying campaign for Euro 2012 despite so many figures within the game, including Wayne Rooney, stating that he would add undoubted quality to Fabio Capello's side.
The 35-year-old retired from international football in 2004.
