Manchester United owners, the Glazer family, are set to become even more unpopular as they are considering augmenting season ticket prices to help decrease the debt that the club is currently in.

The Glazers have started talks with the club’s directors, with a decision expected to come next month.

The Americans took over the Red Devils in 2005 and every year since the ticket prices at Old Trafford have increased by an average of 48%, but with the club in £700million worth of debt the Glazers seem to be more concerned with gaining more revenue from their supporters.

"Will the club's financial issues affect their decision-making? Yes. Will the current climate of the protests and support anger influence them? Not at all," a family source told The Guardian.

United were the lone club of 20 in the top flight to increase their ticket prices this term, and according to United We Stand editor Andy Mitten, the Glazers risk losing many supporter with yet another price increase.

"United are the best-supported team in the world this season but where there was once a waiting list for any season tickets, the continued price rises have diminished demand. Fans have been priced out to the point that we are now seeing empty seats inside Old Trafford for league games for the first time since 1992."
