Everton Manager David Moyes Admits Landon Donovan Will Leave Club
Moyes reveals desire to extend Donovan deal...
By Will Ashwell
Donovan has excelled at Goodison Park, and has exceeded expectations during his short stay during the MLS off-season.
The USA international has featured regularly since his arrival in the January transfer window, and completed 90 minutes in Everton's 3-1 win over Manchester United.
"I think Landon would like to stay but at the moment it probably looks as if he's not [going to]," Moyes told Sky Sports.
"I wouldn't want to have any disrespect to his club or the contract he has over there."
After a slow start to the season, Everton have improved greatly in their league performances and Moyes hopes the trend will continue after their victory over Manchester United.
"We can start looking upwards a bit more than downwards," he added. "This was always going to be a tricky month and we have started it pretty well.
"It was a great result and you don't beat the big teams that often so we are delighted.
"I have said for a while on our day we can be a match for the teams above.
"We have not got everyone fit but I think it shows the spirit we have got.
"I think we can play better and I think we will.
"At the start of the season we struggled to win the games when we had players missing, but there were reasons for that.
"I honestly think when we have got the squad together we can be a match for most teams."
