Liverpool Defender Jamie Carragher: Arsenal Away Is 'Always Difficult'

Rafael Benitez's guarantee of a fourth-placed finish in the Premier League could take a further step forward on Wednesday, when his Liverpool side travel to the Emirates Stadium, but Jamie Carragher has warned that "Arsenal away is always difficult".

The Reds, previously considered to have endured a disastrous season following their early eliminations from both domestic cups and the Champions League, together with their slide down the league table, appear to be recovering, and Benitez can consolidate the club's spot in the top four by inflicting a third successive defeat on Arsene Wenger's Gunners.

Liverpool secured a derby day victory over local rivals Everton at the weekend, and Carragher is quoted by The Birmingham Mail as saying: "It is not just three points, it has a massive impact and everyone is buzzing.

"But that can change if the result doesn't go our way at Arsenal. We beat Manchester United [in the league] and then played Arsenal in the Carling Cup and lost."

He continued: "It is important we keep that feelgood factor after the Arsenal game and that will be by making sure we get a good result.

"We are going into the game in a great frame of mind but Arsenal away is always difficult. We have been to the Emirates for a couple of years now and I don't think we've won there yet so it is something we are going to have to do sooner or later and hopefully Wednesday will be the time."

The club are beginning to reassert themselves at the back, as the rearguard have secured a number of clean sheets of late. Carragher said: "For the last four or five years we have been good defensively under Rafa and we are just getting back to our normal selves.

"If you keep clean sheets you are going to win games."
