News of the World reports that Manchester United are to offer Wayne Rooney a slew of lucrative incentives to stay put.

The Red Devils are troubled by the growing Spanish interest in their star striker, with Barcelona said to be mustering a mega-money bid.

Determined not to lose a second superstar to La Liga in the space of a year, United chief executive David Gill has reportedly added a few new items to the agenda for Rooney's upcoming contract talks.

It has been widely reported that the Old Trafford giants will offer the Scouser improved terms of around £120,000 per week, but now they are also expected to dangle a number of juicy bonuses.

Among these are: £250,000 for becoming FIFA World Player of the Year; £100,000 for becoming PFA Player of the Year; £100,000 for winning the European Golden Boot; and £50,000 for topping the Premier League's scoring charts.

The proposal is remeniscent of the conditions under which Cristiano Ronaldo spent his latter seasons at United, with whom he claimed every one of the aforementioned accolades.
