Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that central midfielder Abou Diaby will miss the Gunners' next two games because of a shoulder injury.

Diaby originally suffered the injury against Everton before aggravating the problem against Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday night and he will be joined on the sidelines by full-back Bacary Sagna.

Wenger told Arsenal TV: "The first news is not bad but he has a scan tomorrow and we will know more from there.

"Of course, he is out for Stoke and certainly for the Villa game. There is a hope he might be back for Manchester United but we don’t know yet."

Wenger also revealed that full-back Sagna will miss the cup clash against the Potters, but stressed that he would use his squad to compensate.

"From the game [we lost no-one else]," he added.

"But some have played on the fringe like Bacary Sagna, who has a bad shoulder.

"He will absolutely need to be rested. I will assess the situation on Friday and Saturday, but we will certainly make use of the squad."
