Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says his team are up for the title race as he watched his side blow Portsmouth away with a 4-1 victory.

“We believe and we’re up for it (the title)” Wenger told Sky Sports.

“We have the talent, the focus and the talent, so we’ll be fighting all the way for the title. If we don’t believe in us then no one else will, so we’ll keep going”

Goals from Eduardo, Samir Nasri, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Song were more than good enough to see off bottom-placed Portsmouth and Wenger was pleased with his teams showing.

He added “It was a competitive game, and we got lucky with the first goal but remained committed and looked like a team playing for each other.

"People are saying I need to buy strikers but we are scoring goals from everywhere, and a lot of team goals”

Ramsey’s strike was Arsenal’s 50th goal already this campaign but Wenger hinted he may still dip into the transfer market in January.

“I’m not against it, it depends on the injuries to Bendtner, Fabregas and Denilson but we will see what’s available.

"We have some very good young players at this club which we’ve already seen this season and some we are still holding back but we will assess things in January.”

Up next for the Gunners is a FA Cup Third Round London derby with West Ham on Sunday.
