FA Will Not Intervene In John Terry's Chelsea Controversy

FA chief executive Ian Watmore has declared that the governing body will not interfere in the controversy surrounding England and Chelsea skipper John Terry.

According to various reports, the defender allegedly accepted £10,000 to show undercover reporters around the club's Cobham training headquarters.

While manager Carlo Ancelotti has defended his player, the CEO said that Three Lions boss Fabio Capello would be left to deal with any situation in the national team that may arise out of the controversy.

"I see our role as appointing the manager and his team in this case," Watmore told The Guardian.

"Having appointed Fabio and co, it's their call on all matters to do with the playing side and the captaincy. It's as simple as that.

"From the club's point of view, they have to take up whatever issues they think are relevant.

"But from our point of view, he's eligible to play for England, the manager wants him to captain England, we've done extraordinarily well under the combination of those two and that's it really."
