Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger Frustrated By Disallowed Goal In Defeat To Chelsea

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was incensed at referee Andre Marriner's decision to disallow Andrey Arshavin's goal following the Gunners' 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League this evening.
The Gunners would have closed the gap on their London rivals to just five points with the luxury of a game in hand over Chelsea had they earned the three points although a Didier Drogba double and a Thomas Vermaelen own goal ensured that the Blues would come out victorious.
With the score at 2-0, however, Arshavin had his strike chalked off for an apparent foul by Eduardo on Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.
Marriner ruled that the Croatian had illegally flicked the ball away from Cech's hands although Wenger can't understand the decision, claiming that it was infact a Chelsea player who impeded the Czech Republic stopper.
"I watched it [the disallowed goal] five times and nobody touches [Cech]," the Gunners manager told Sky Sports.
"He [Arshavin] scored and the referee cancelled the goal. It was a Cheslea player's foot [that connected with Cech]. That was a big turning point.
"We find ourselves 2-0 [down] at half-time. We were very unfortunate to be 2-0 down at half-time."
Wenger went on to insist that although he feels Arsenal aren't currently in the title race, he is convinced his side can recover and that Chelsea will eventually drop points.
"In the first 30 minutes we had plenty of opportunities to score," he added.
"We have nothing to be ashamed of. It all went Chelsea's way and I was not especially impressed with what happened on the pitch.
"They [Chelsea] took their chances well. It is now down to us to come back into it [the title race]. I believe Chelsea can drop points."
