'England's Best Goalkeeper' Ben Foster Is Not Leaving Manchester United - Sir Alex Ferguson

Red Devils boss rules out loan move for frustrated glovesman...

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that there is no chance Ben Foster will be anywhere but Old Trafford come the new year.

The 26-year-old’s future at the club began to look uncertain when the England goalkeeper declared his frustration at being a regular starter for his country whilst playing second fiddle to Edwin van der Sar with the Red Devils.

But Ferguson has quashed any claims that Foster may seek a loan move to remain in the forefront of Fabio Capello’s plans for South Africa next year.

The Scot told the Press Association: “He is definitely staying here.

“He has had a couple of bad mistakes in games but his performance level has been very good. He will be a terrific goalkeeper.”

Ferguson added that Foster’s future is bright, with the presence of Van der Sar being the only reason why he is not a fixture in the first XI.

He said: “Ben is a strong lad. Without doubt he is England’s best goalkeeper.

“But for a lad of 26 he has not had much game experience. That is the negative part for him and that is where maybe it will cost him his England position at the moment.”
