Top Of Table Clashes Are Always Important For Manchester United - Gary Neville

Chelsea game is of utmost significance...

Community Shield: Gary Neville, Portsmouth - Manchester United (PA)
Manchester United skipper Gary Neville has acknowledged that clashes against any team from the 'big four' are usually the key to a club's fortunes.

The Red Devils will take on Chelsea in a high-profile encounter that will see the winner take the lead in the race to the Premier League title.

"These matches are always key," Neville is quoted by Sky Sports as saying.

"It is a big game between two big clubs. Both teams will want to win, but both also know it will be just as difficult as ever."

The west London club will take a five-point lead at the right end of the table if they should win the clash, but Neville underplayed the significance of a loss, should Sir Alex Ferguson's charges drop points at Stamford Bridge.

"No matter what happens though, there is still a long way to go," he concluded.
