Joe Cole Targets Return For Chelsea
Joe Cole return may give England manager Fabio Capello plenty of food for thought..
Joe Cole is in contention to make his first appearance in the starting line-up in nine months when Chelsea meet Blackburn at Stamford Bridge today.
Cole was sidelined for a cruciate ligament injury and required cartilage surgery, but is now aiming to be at full health, hinting that he may be available for this weekend's Premier League clash.
"I don't want to put pressure on myself. When I am coming back in, I just try to do what I can. It might be the day when I have a good game, or I might need a few more games to reach my level," he told the club's official website.
"I played one game already against QPR, a good game, and I am in a position now where I know it is coming, and it might be today."
Cole said it is hard to tell exactly when you are back to normal especially after suffering a long-term injury.
"It is staggered. You can go and score a world-y goal and everyone says he is back and it isn't the case. It is a process, you can have a good game, you can have a bad game and the only way to get that consistency is to play through it."
He received a tremendous reception whilst training mid-week, something he values highly.
"Particularly in the dark days when I was injured, I feel that the fans want me to do well and you can't buy that."
"I promise them I will come back better than before, whether it is this Saturday, next Saturday, next month or in a few months' time. I will come back better than I was before. I am convinced."
