Chelsea's Michael Ballack Impressive Return Because Of Roger Federer

The 33-year-old has returned to form of old thanks to an unlikely figure...

Michael Ballack has attributed his return to form with Chelsea down to watching Swiss tennis star Roger Federer on the box set.

"It's good for your career as a sportsman if you watch other professional sports - how they're behaving and how they react in difficult situations," Ballack told The London Evening Standard.

"It was amazing to see how relaxed Federer was and how easy he made it look. This is always a sign he's on a different level."

Ballack was in and out of the Chelsea first team last season and faced heavy criticism for his poor performances given his credentials and impressive displays with previous clubs Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich.

"Last year it wasn't that successful for me. Maybe I was a little bit unlucky but now it looks like I'm coming back to scoring goals, which is a big strength of mine. Hopefully I can score a few more."

The Germany captain is out of contention for this afternoon's clash with Aston Villa after picking up an injury on international duty.
