Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has told The Sun that he doubts he will ever get an apology from Manchester City's Emmanuel Adebayor.

The City striker allegedly stamped on van Persie's face during their clash at Eastlands, an incident of many that occurred in Arsenal's infamous visit.

"He has shown what he is like in the last couple of weeks. So, he had to do what he did," van Persie said.

"If I look in the mirror, I cannot blame myself."

Van Persie added: "No, I don't expect an apology. My feelings are the same.

"I don't want to waste more time on Mr Adebayor."

It was not the only incident during the game to cause a stir, as the Togolese striker caused more controversy during a goal celebration which the FA is still ruling on.

The Dutchman admitted he was aware that Adebayor could have been given a longer suspension.

"A referee at the start of the season came and explained that if they think it is worse than a three-game suspension, they will ban for four or five," he said.

"But Adebayor got the ban for what he did because what he did was not right."
