The Nigerian has been out of action for seven months, but is nearing full fitness, and has promised supporters that he will be returning very soon.
"Hopefully I think I will be back beginning of next season," he told Sky Sports News.
"I have been working so hard, and the training is good and [there has been] no reaction. It's great to be back, and hopefully next week I'll join the team."
In the striker's absence, Everton still managed to finish fifth in the Premier League and reach the FA Cup final, and Yakubu is aware that he faces a battle to win his place back in the starting line-up.
"We set up the standard already," he added. "We want to keep up that standard.
"To play in the FA Cup final and to finish in fifth place is great. We're trying to do more, to achieve another step further.
"Hopefully we'll get there [the top four] this season. It's not going to be easy, but we'll keep working and working and hopefully we'll get there, with the players we have and with new players coming in."
