Atishay Inc. : Top Ten I-League Bloopers
The Indian top flight has its fair share of comic moments...
1) Surkumar Singh & Shilton Paul vs East Bengal
Much has been said about the duo's miscommunication at East Bengal's second goal, but it's still not enough. Surkumar tried to shield Yakubu from the loose ball bouncing towards Shilton, but the goalkeeper ducked at the last minute to allow the ball to roll over the line. Like mentioned earlier, they probably thought the ball was a bomb.
2) Shilton Paul against Mumbai FC
Congratulations (Or commiserations?) to Shilton Paul for appearing in the top two of this list. The Bagan keeper was at fault for both goals scored by Mumbai FC in the game. The first one saw Abhishek Yadav's retarding, looping header bundle in from over his head, whereas at the second goal, he collided with young Sangram Mandi to drop the ball to the floor, which allowed Bashiru to tap into the empty net.
3) EC Sharath against Mohun Bagan
The man looked anything but a keeper on the day, fumbling everything that came his way (Rhyme unintended). Looking more like a striker made to stand in front of goal, Sharath was also guilty of spilling a straightforward save straight into Snehashish Chakraborty's path, who slotted home to give Bagan the lead.

4) Tamba, Kali Alaudeen & Debabrata Roy against Chirag United
This may not be the worst blunder per se, but it rates high on comedy quotient. Chirag were trailing 2-1, when Malswamtulunga chipped a ball into the box, at the sight of which all three defenders fell flat onto the floor, allowing Josimar to thump the ball into the back of the net, end earning Chirag a point.
5) Amit Singha Roy against Chirag United
The goalkeeper didn't have a good start to the game, as Edmilson finished past him in the 7th minute, but his day got worse as the Brazilian scores his second, which was giftwrapped by Roy himself. The shot from the edge of the area was straight at him, but he fumbled it into the back of the net. It was the goal that made the difference.
6) Abhra Mondal against Mohun Bagan
It was a comedy of errors on derby day in Kolkata, and Mondal was one of the star acts in the play. The East Bengal defence cleared the ball 20 yards away to Manish Mathani, whose powerful strike was almost glided into the back of the net by Mondal, who seemed to be wanting to get out of the way!
He was at fault for Bagan's fifth goal as well, as he came to punch the ball at a corner, but couldn't get to it, allowing Chidi to get his fourth goal of the game.
7) Mehrajuddin Wadoo vs Mohun Bagan
Wadoo's wasn't one of the biggest errors if you isolate the incident, but his performance on the day was like a compilation of mistakes. In the very first minute of the second half, a cross from the left came to the Kashmiri, but instead of buying time and clearing properly, he literally passed it back to Snehashish on the left, who crossed once more. Needless to say, Bagan scored, in what was the most crucial game of the tie.

8) Lalit Thapa vs Air India
The Churchill keeper isn't really known for solid goalkeeping, to be honest. He's more of the eccentric kind, saving spectacularly one moment, before embarrassing himself the next. This time he let Ravinder Singh's seemingly harmless free kick slip between his palms and into the back of the net, but fortunately for him, the referee blew the whistle for a foul, which probably was the bigger error!
9) Nidhin Lal & Bernard vs Air India
Mumbai FC's Bernard Achaw seemed too tired to defend in the second half of the game, as he left a loose ball for goalkeeper Nidhinlal to deal with. The glovesman was having none of it though, as he was still tired after the previous goal kick. Air India striker Opara took out his devil horns, put them on, and sneaked in to score.
10) Sandip Nandy vs Mohun Bagan
The former India number one has lost his place in the starting lineup after a few unconvincing displays. He has made quite a few mistakes this season but the one against Mohun Bagan stands out. Marcos Pereira and Ishfaq took a corner short, and Pereira sent in a cross, which bounced right in front of Nandy, and merrily went past him into the back of the net, with the keeper scratching his head.
