'The AIFF should listen to Rob Baan and Wim Koevermans and improve conditions for Indian football' - Sanjoy Sen

Mohammedan Sporting Club head coach Sanjoy Sen believes that Indian football can improve only when the infrastructure is improved.

The former Prayag United SC gaffer has urged the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to help the cause of providing with proper playing conditions in order to improve the quality of the beautiful game in the country.

"We are playing in the afternoon under the hot sun, and that too on artificial turf. If you just walk on the turf you can feel the heat," he lamented.

Sen also stated that watering the Astroturf makes no difference when the kick-offs are scheduled as early as around 14:00 IST, given that no floodlights are installed at the Bangalore football stadium.

"The AIFF should think about these things," he pleaded. "How can you expect the standard of football to improve under such conditions. Two teams from the second division are going to qualify for the I-League. Even if we play in the I-League, teams have to play in the afternoon," he added.

He continued: "The AIFF should listen to Rob Baan (technical director) and Wim Koevermans (national team coach) to improve conditions for Indian football."

For the team who are leading the pack after drawing 1-1 against Langsning FC in their first match of the final round (Round 2) of the I-League division II Final Phase on Monday, Sen has high regard for the Mohammedan Sporting management and added that anything less than a qualification to the top division would be a disappointment.

"The Mohammedan Sporting management has always supported me and it is our aim to qualify for the I-League," he signed off.
