I-League Division II: Bhaichung Bhutia Reacts To Seikhohao Tuboi’s Suspension – Why Make The Player A Scapegoat?
The Sikkimese Sniper believes that the teams who faced Shillong Lajong prior to Tuboi’s suspension have been at a disadvantage…

It was when Southern Samity brought the issue to the notice of the Indian FA, the matter was dismissed given that the protests are to be made prior to the kick-off of the final rounds. However after an investigation, AIFF decided to suspend Tuboi for the above mentioned goof-up and the former India U-23 striker is left hanging in the air.
Bhaichung Bhutia questioned as to why only the player was targeted and not the state associations and the clubs involved as doing the paperwork isn’t the player’s prerogative.
“Tuboi is one of the greatest talents in Indian football and he has been made a scapegoat and suspended.
“If action needs to be taken it must be against all the parties involved, why only the player has to suffer? You mean to say that the Meghalaya Football Association or Shillong Lajong weren’t aware that their player was playing for another club?
“Why didn’t Tuboi never played in the Shillong or Meghalaya league for them and instead participated in the Kolkata League? If a player doesn’t turn up of two-or-three training sessions, as an owner or official, one will definitely keep a check on the whereabouts of the player. Tuboi was in Kolkata and didn’t the club know about it?” questioned Bhaichung.
The Indian national team skipper also believed that it was unfair on the clubs who faced Lajong prior to Tuboi’s suspension as it hands an advantage to the teams who have come up against the Shillonng based side lately.
“If I have been defending for a few games and then suspended for the rest of the matches, it is unfair on the teams against whom I played.
“Tuboi played in a few matches and scored crucial goals for Lajong. Now that he has been suspended, others teams have an upper hand as we saw Sporting thrash them 3-1,” he pointed.
United Sikkim need to win their final game against Vasco SC and hope that Sporting Clube De Goa doesn’t register three points against Royal Wahingdoh. But since they drew 2-2 with Shillong Lajong, United Sikkim will gain promotion if they win and Lajong suffers a defeat and the Sikkim club finish with a better goal difference
“The grounds are very, very poor here. We have been undefeated in our last 12 matches and here we find ourselves in a situation that we could go out of the competition. This is not the way to take football forward as Tuboi is suspended against some teams.
