Bhutia and Chhetri back Churchill to win the Federation Cup

The Sikkimese Sniper backed the Red Machines to win their maiden Federation Cup title on Saturday…

Bhaichung Bhutia and Sunil Chhetri believe that Churchill Brothers shall edge Sporting Clube de Goa to win the Federation Cup.

The former India skipper stated that the final between the two sides would be a contest of consistency versus current form.

“I haven’t watched Federation Cup and  so it is difficult for me to pick a winner. I think Churchill are in good form and Sporting have been consistent in I-League and the Federation Cup. It’s between consistency versus a team getting back to form. I think Churchill might win it,” Bhaichung told Goal on the sidelines of Nike MUPC U-15 finals at Pune.

Sunil Chhetri, who won the I-League last season with Churchill, explained why his former side could triumph at Kochi.

“I think Churchill are the favourites. Why I am saying that is because they are quite confident and haven’t lost a game. Sporting is also a very good side but I think Churchill are riding high on confidence. Not because they are my former team. I wish both teams all the luck. Sporting are also a very good side but Churchill hasn’t dropped a point. It will be an interesting one,” he said.
