The Spaniard was pleased with the commitment shown by his players in order to edge past Dempo SC in the semis…
Sporting Clube de Goa booked their berth in the final of the Federation Cup by defeating Dempo SC 3-2 (after extra time) in one of the most thrilling games of the competition so far.
The Flaming Oranje will have to recover in time to be in optimum condition against Churchill Brothers in the final.
“Sporting cannot stop. We have to start the recovery program [after Dempo win]. 48 hours is very less, especially after extra time and after we have traveled from Manjeri. We are going to do everything for keeping the guys fresh for the final,” said coach Oscar Bruzon.
“We need to work a lot on our focus. Practically, 80 percent is going to be psychological of the recovery process. Slowly, we will think about the game. On Friday, we will start our recovery session and in the evening we will present tactical tips to the guys and on Saturday morning, before the game, we will prepare the game talk and give the last instructions to be ready for this game,” he added.
Sporting lead for most of the match against Dempo SC until Tolgay Ozbey scored the equalizer before regaining their lead through substitute Arturo Garcia from a spot-kick. Haroon Amiri made amends after conceding the penalty by restoring parity to take the game into extra time.
“We were expecting a beautiful game and by offering everything that we had the result came in our favour. It's a fantastic day for us.
“Every time we are having a problem, we have to react fast and stronger. I think the boys did that. We were playing in adversity with some players having injuries. Even when Dempo equalized for the second time, we were pushing to win the game,” he mentioned.
Sporting have conceded a whopping seven goals on their way into the finals and have scored 10 in four matches. Bruzon stated that his side have struck a balance between how to attack and defend.“Our defense worked perfectly. Dempo really put us in a lot of problems. It was a very demanding game, especially in the defense. I think we created a very good balance between the defense, the attack and the counter attack. That was the trick for winning the game and making it to the final.”
