The Mumbai FC gaffer believes that it is very difficult to predict the pattern in which the Mariners play the game…
Khalid Jamil is geared up ahead of the Federation Cup where they are grouped alongside Mohun Bagan, Shillong Lajong and Salgaocar FC in cluster C.
Although in the I-League, Mumbai FC are placed ninth – which is below all of the three opponents in their group, Jamil expressed confidence in his side’s ability to progress into the semi-finals.
“Our target is to win. We want to play well and there is a good chance of doing it. Why not? It is important to put in a good performance in the first game,” said Jamil.
“Shillong Lajong are a good side and are performing well this season. Salgaocar FC are also a good team.”
Speaking of Mohun Bagan, Jamil stressed that with Odafa Okolie returning to his best form, they could be a tricky side to come up against.
“Odafa is looking good. Mohun Bagan play according to a plan and it is difficult to predict which style they shall adopt as they don’t always play in the same pattern. They keep changing as per the need of the game.
“It’s always good to play against them. Karim [Bencherifa] is a tricky coach to play against.”
Meanwhile Mumbai FC have parted ways with striker Sanjdar Ahmadi, who scored two goals in nine appearances for them this term. They are on the lookout for a replacement with a couple of them already on trials.
